5.30.12 - Road trip!

Our Memorial Day weekend was great!  Saturday we spent the day lazing around the house, Sunday after church we spent at a good friend's house and grilled out, and Monday we spent at Dustin's sister's house with her family....I felt like we hadn't spent good quality friends/family time in awhile, so it was great!  Liam and I are finally recovered after our week of sickies.  Liam still has a cough when he gets running around, but other than that is his normal spunky self.

Liam and I leave tomorrow morning for a long road trip up to St. Louis to visit my family up there.  My parents are driving us, so we are hitching a ride! LOL.  Dustin can't make it because of work, but I'm sure he'll enjoy some guy time with his buddies while we are away.  We will be visiting my cousin, whom I consider like a sister to me, and her family.  She has a son who is 3 months older than Liam, so it should be a lot of fun for all of us!  Plus, I'm hoping to plan a special visit to meet a heart mom!!  I am very much looking forward to this trip...even if it's a 10 hour drive one way!  The iPad and laptop are charging, bags are going to be packed soon, and then we'll be on our way!

I have been really slacking on taking pictures lately, but here are a few from a couple weekends ago when we went to a local festival - they had a GREAT children's area with a huge sandbox, lots of legos and a petting zoo (and tons of other activities we didn't get around to!)...too bad Liam is getting camera shy and won't look at me when I've got any kind of camera out...Hopefully I'll get some good ones on our trip!

5.25.12 - Down and out....

This has been a rough week for this momma...and not too great for Liam either.  We've both been home sick since Monday night, me with strep and Liam was phasing out of HFM, but caught another "virus" and had another bout with low fever and coughing...And now I think I actually caught his HFM, which I thought adults couldn't get, but I clearly have something going on on the soles of my feet that make it feel like I'm walking on fiery glass, and my hands are slowly starting to feel the same...UGH.  It just occurred to me this morning that that is probably what I have.  I spent a good part of last night giving myself a foot scrub because I thought I just had dry and cracked feet, but to no avail.  At least, thankfully, I don't have any mouth symptoms.  Just praying the foot symptoms go away soon!

On the much brighter side of things, we have a contract pending on our house already!  YAY!  I knew all the hardwork (and PATIENT waiting! Ha!) would pay off, and it did.  We actually met our buyer last night, which was a little awkward at first (because we negotiated quite a bit!) but he seemed really nice and excited about our house.  It's just starting to hit me that this isn't going to be our home for much longer...better start taking lots of pictures...Anyone who has moved from their first home, did you do anything special to remember it by?

I would end by saying summer is fast approaching, but I'm pretty sure with 95 degrees outside, it's already here!  Liam and I have a big road trip coming up, so more on that soon!  Have a great Memorial Day weekend everyone!

5.11.12 - House stuff

Remember when we made this house for Liam??

July 2011...Brand new home!!
Almost a year ago...wow!  Liam has played in his box house ALL THE TIME since we constructed it.  It became his hiding place, hangout spot and place where he entertained his friends!  He loves this house...it's his little home.  Well, this past weekend, we said goodbye to Liam's new home, as he has since outgrown it, and it was in need of MUCH repair =)  This was a great way to start dialogue about our upcoming move.  We explained that since he is a big boy now, he needs a different home.  And that Daddy is going to make him a new one when we get our new home.  But, of course we took some farewell photos....

Last farewell before it was off to the recycle bin...
I wish looking back, we had measured his height on it, so we could see how much taller he's grown...Obviously we've had to make some modifications to the doorway over the months we've had it!  Time is sure flying by and it probably won't be long before we all have a new home!

And, on other house related things, I just started the bible study, "Me, Myself and Lies" and was inspired to create a printable based one of the key verses, Philippians 4:8.  I've been really inspired to start having more scripture visible in our home, so I plan on doing some more verses in different designs soon.  Print + Frame = EASY art for your home!  You can check it out over at my other blog!  Hope you enjoy!

5.4.12 - More potty talk

Just an update since I realized it's almost been 2 weeks since my last post!  Woops....time is just flying crazy past us and I can't seem to keep up!

We haven't had too much going on...we are waiting for one last minor repair to get done to the house and we plan on listing it next week.  I am excited to get the process underway and get it sold.  We are still deciding where to go after we move, but I know God will help us figure it out - He always does!

And on to the potty talk...Liam is doing exceptionally well.  I am SO thankful and we are blessed!  I know I was expecting this to be a very difficult process, and I am just praising God it's been relatively easy.  And for the first time this morning, woke up with a dry diaper and went potty on Froggy first thing when he woke up.  I think we have "officially" made the transition into only undies during his awake time, and only using diapers or pull ups for naps and overnight.  He has made quite a few trips out of the house and stayed dry too.  YAY!  For awhile I was getting lax with it and putting a diaper on whenever we would go somewhere, but then I realized he was starting to prefer diapers again, so I had to buckle down and insist we only keep him in undies during the day, no matter what we were doing or where we needed to go.  And despite some trickiness figuring out how to sit him on commercial potties at places, he is doing great.  He has even gone poo in the potty, although we've had more accidents with this one.  But hopefully not too much longer and this will all be a stage behind us!

I am really looking forward to the summertime, however it's shaping up to be another hot one for us.  It's already been in the 90's this week here, so I'm worried we might not catch a break anytime soon.  An apartment that has a pool while we are in limbo is sounding really nice about now!  Happy Friday everyone!
